Tonight, I have the privilege of returning to my Alma Ma
ter, Liberty University and speaking to the design students at the AIGA meeting. Wow, it takes me back! It seems like just yesterday that I was sitting in class trying to predict what life in the real “design world” would be like.
Oh the things I thought I knew. I am sure be saying that again…
Two years later, here I am at Prototype. What a rush!
As a designer, I am a part of one of the most exciting communities in existence. We are often the first to see new technology, we are able to adapt to and shape culture, we see direct results, we form identities, and did I mention it is ridiculously fun! Design exists because of community. Without it, visual communication would never progress. It is a constant joy to see my team members here at PT pushing the creative envelope, and to see how we are influencing our area and beyond.
Hopefully, I can impart some bit of useful knowledge to the students tonight. I wonder if the Mac lab will still be full of random students taking up space trying to perfect their Facebook profile pic in Photo Booth. Did I mention that was annoying?
